Doug Turnbull and Barry Rogers formed Wild Honey duo in 1997. Both Barry and Doug played semi professionally in bands throughout the sixties. Barry played in a band in North Wales called the ‘Aces’ and was very much part of the Mersey Scene in the sixties playing on the same bill with many of the big named Liverpool and Manchester bands of the day. Doug is also no stranger to the guitar by being an innovative lead guitarist and able to play classical, blues, rock, folk, finger picking and medieval styles of music. Doug also had his own very successful band in New Zealand throughout the sixties. Wild Honey plays fender stratocaster electric guitars and for the lighter music uses twelve and six string acoustic guitars.
Wild Honey is a very successful duo able to produce a diversity of music for dancing and a quieter repertoire for cabaret or as background music for dining.
Wild Honey perform mainly for private and corporate functions including dinner dances, weddings, anniversaries, socials, village fetes, flower shows, garden centres, dances, house and garden parties, marquee functions, barbeques, hotels, restaurants, country houses and society dinners or for any other quality occasions. They specialise in music from the late 50’s, 60’s and some 70’s and recreate the nostalgic sounds of Bill Hailey, Cliff and the Shadows, Elvis, Beatles, Rolling Stones, Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry, Kinks, Searchers, Dire Straits, Fats Domino, John Denver, Everly Brothers, Simon and Garfunkel, and many others from the era. They also recreate the classic hits from Queen, Slade, Status Quo, Clapton, Humperdink, Tom Jones to name just a few. They play an extensive range of vocal music including, rock, folk, blues, rhythm and blues, ballads, country music and also a wide variety of instrumental classics. They aim to please a wide diversity of musical tastes and are constantly working to increase the size of their repertoire. Currently they offer in excess of 200 numbers and have recently started building a repertoire of original numbers.
When the sound of a full band is called for they use midi file electronics to include bass guitar and drums and this gives the necessary backing support to produce the sounds of a four and five piece band. This facility enables them to cater for a wide range of dancing stiles including rock and roll, jive, twist, waltz, cha cha, foxtrot and smooch.

They are prepared to play ‘locally’ free of charge to help raise funds for worthy causes. Any one interested in booking the duo is welcome to attend a practice session at Tibberton but this does need to be pre arranged. There is also the facility to choose your favourite classics from a list of more than 200 numbers.
